The SSR was the brainchild of the late Dr E L Cay and evolved between 1986 and 1988 from the Scottish Society of Rehabilitation Medicine. It is open to all professionals in health and social services who have an interest in rehabilitation.

The SSR’s first AGM was held in October 1988 in Perth. To date, the SSR has held over 30 clinical meetings on a wide range of subjects and 5 specialist research days.

 

The aims of the SSR are:-

To increase awareness and understanding of the problems of disability.

To promote improvements in rehabilitation practice.

To encourage and disseminate research into disability and rehabilitation.

To provide an interdisciplinary forum for rehabilitation issues.

 

     

 

To date, the SSR has held 30 clinical meetings on a wide range of subjects and 5 specialist research days.
